Paul is one of the hardest working Councillors at City Hall.  His work on a number of committees in bringing forward real improvements to residents is consistent.

  • Seizure and destruction of illegal guns - by Councillor Paul Ainslie  Paul introduced a seize and destroy motion for all confiscated guns and ammunition. Demanding that the Province of Ontario amend their laws, mandating law enforcement agencies to destroy seized illegal weapons to ensure they are not put back on our streets.
  • Senior – Long Term Care - Heads in Beds – Every year since 2007 Paul has asked that the Province of Ontario increase the funding for seniors in long term care facilities to the rate of inflation.  Hopefully the newly elected provincial government will listen!
  • Online Registration for recreational programs and city rentals – Through Paul's request the city now has online registration for all your recreational programming and facilities rentals!
  • Creating a Sustainable and Vibrant Community Hub – Job Skills Centre at the Sir Robert L. Borden Business and Technical Institute - by Councillor Paul Ainslie.  Paul has been working hard to bring employment to Scarborough along with creating a Job Skills Centre in the community for residents to easily access. Working with residents and the Province to ensure this is done.
  • Lowering Speed Limit on Local Roads in School Zones – by Councillor Paul Ainslie. To ensure safety Paul is working with the vision zero team and local schools to ensure safety.  His initiative to lower speed limits in school zones is being implemented along with new safety tools near senior living.
  • Local Traffic Vehicle Decals.  As Vision Zero is implemented across the city, bringing safety to our community streets for seniors, children and all residents.  Residents are supportive but still require access to their homes, under Paul's direction the City will pilot a local traffic vehicle decal for vehicles to enter safety zoned neighbourhoods.
  • Payday Loan Act – by- Councillor Paul Ainslie.  To protect residents Paul has been working to force the province of Ontario to review the payday loan act to reduce the number of establishments, create a distance between their locations and reduce their rate of interest.
  • Toronto's Homeless Deaths - Data Collection- by Councillor Paul Ainslie. The City of Toronto now tracks our homeless dead in order for us to better understand how we can help those in need.  Paul's initiative has formed a task force between the coroner's office and the city and provincial officers of health.
  • Human Trafficking - Support for Bill 158, Saving the Girl Next Door Act - by Councillor Paul Ainslie.  This Bill helps parents protect their children even if they area over 18.  It allows victims to sue their traffickers.
As Chair of the Government Management Committee Paul has brought a long list of improvements to the City in the way it functions and making it easier for residents to access City Hall.  Through Paul's leadership as Chair he has saved the City over $500 million yearly!
